Remedies For Diverticulitis

Remedies For Diverticulitis

Diverticulitis is the more serious form of diverticular disease. It is an inflammation caused by microbes infection. Feasting on the semi-digested food and feces trapped in the intestine ‘pouches’.

It is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical attention in a hospital.

To treat it, Western Medicine relies mostly on pharmaceutical drugs to fight off the infection and inflammation. Once the inflammation is eradicated, the patient return to his “diverticulosis” condition. (Pouches in his intestines where food is trapped and rot).

Conventional treatment commonly uses the following kinds of drugs:

  1. A broad-spectrum antibiotic to kill many different types of microorganisms. The doctor prefers an antibiotic that is poorly absorbed from the intestines into the blood. This is important so that the drug stays inside the bowels where it is needed and not affect the other organs of the body.
  2. An anti-inflammatory drug which can reduce the swelling and inflammation of the bowel.
  3. Painkillers – to reduce the pain experienced by numbing the nerves of the patient.

There are numerous drugs that fall under the groups classified above to serve the same purpose. These are chosen depending on the doctor’s choice and experience.

Antibiotics drugs, however, can cause undesired side-effects mostly to the liver and kidneys. These organs are mainly used by the body to process and eliminate chemicals (as drugs are). So these are usually affected. Furthermore, using antibiotics will eradicate certain bacteria in the intestines. This can lead to Crohn’s disease.

When the patient is in mortal danger, he does not have many choices.

Again: Diverticulitis requires hospitalization and possible surgery.

Alternative natural therapy

In Diverticulisis state, Natural therapy has nothing to offer the patient. Only when the patient returns to his “diverticulosis” state, herbal medicine can step in. Alternative natural therapy aims to identify the root cause/s of an illness. Once the root cause is identifies, we can cope with it in various ways.

In our case, the root cause of diverticulosis is weak intestines that buckle and deformed into pouches.

So, our aim is to strengthen the intestine tissues so the pouches will be reduced.
