Home Gastro Diverticulosis

Diverticulosis Diet Plan

Diverticulosis Diet Plan

This is a disease of the intestines. People with diverticulosis have a very weak digestive system. Diverticulosis is a long-term disease and may leave patients feeling exhausted and frustrated.

To provide relief, ‘Western” medicine usually turns to pharmaceutical drugs. But these have a large risk of side-effects that could harm other body organs.

In contrast, alternative therapy follows the natural approach to use “food as medicine.” It aims to address the root cause/s and help the body to strengthen itself. Then it will be able to fight back against the disease. Whole, naturally nutritious food ingredients are the main components of this diet. Herbs used traditionally plus other products naturally rich with antioxidants are also a part of it.

A protocol developed by Dr. Daniel Cobb can also be adapted to treat diverticulitis. The protocol is based on healing “diseased” arteries through daily doses of multivitamins and other natural health supplements which are the raw building block of collagen tissues. Collagen is an essential component of body repair.

For example, some ingredients can have a direct effect to reduce inflammation and pain. Activated charcoal absorbs harmful microbes and the toxins they produce which can cause inflammation. This eventually reduces the pain. Herbs like turmeric and ginger, when made into teas, can strongly stop inflammation. Purselane and aloe vera, meanwhile, soothes irritated, inflamed areas as well as ulcers. These can be blended and mixed with juices and/or salads.

In the long run, preventing the disease from getting worse will also prevent the pain which comes with it.
