Magnesium Deficiency

Magnesium flash

Magnesium is a metal that participates in many electrical/chemical reactions in the body. It may be in shortage even if blood tests show it is on the normal range. If you have a magnesium shortage and start to take magnesium supplements, it can take three weeks before the body reaches balanced levels.

When magnesium is burning it creates strong light. In the past, it was used to produce a light flash for photography purposes.

Lack of magnesium in the body can cause many strong symptoms:

Electrical Signals Impacts

Irregular heart pace

The heart is ticking by electrical signals. Magnesium deficiency might prohibit the electrical signal operation. The moment irregular heart pace is detected (in gymnasium medical testing) the reaction is to rush the person to a hospital and implant a pacemaker into him. It might be fixed by taking some magnesium pills.

Muscle cramps

The muscles contract in response to an electrical signal sent to them by the nerves. Electrically conduction problems due to magnesium deficiency can cause involuntary muscle contractions, especially in the leg muscles. Such a contraction is very painful.

Similar muscle cramps happen in the eye muscles and create cramps that look like tics. Not painful but very visible by those around.

Fibromyalgia?

Another example of muscle problems. Muscles remain in constant low tension over time in the absence of magnesium. (Though not being in a contraction state). This can cause pain in the scattered places in the body.

Tic disorder syndrome

This is a serious phenomenon affecting the life quality of many.  (Including this post writer).

An electrical pulse in the brain is created at random times. Along with the pulse, a thought or memory is brought into consciousness. Sometimes the pulse only remains in the brain, and then the person loses concentration in what he did until the tick. Sometimes the pulse is so strong that it causes the body to jump or a sharp movement of the muscles. Stronger tics are classified as “Tourette’s Syndrome”.
This phenomenon affects many people’s lives. The source of this phenomenon is unknown. For me, the drug Prozac stopped ticks without movements I had.

It is worth checking the effect of magnesium supplements on the syndrome.

Migraine Headaches

Another possible result of magnesium deficiency is Migraine Headaches. If you suffer from it, you can test the impact of magnesium supplements on the headache you have. Try to take a magnesium supplement for two weeks and keep a log in which you record the severity and prevalence of headaches. If you don’t sense a significant improvement in your condition, then conduct another two weeks logging of the headache without magnesium supplement. The log will show you if magnesium does have an impact on your condition.

Metabolism Syndromes

Diabetic/sugar level fluctuations

Magnesium is needed for the proper operation of insulin. Lack of it in the cell can create insulin resistance or “metabolic syndrome”. Studies showed that lack of it contributed to Diabetics type 2.

High blood pressure

Magnesium enlarges the blood vessels which reduces the blood pressure in the body. People taking antihypertensive medication should measure the pressure after taking magnesium supplements and make adjustments to the medication with their doctor.

Insomnia

Magnesium relaxes the muscles and body as a whole, which induces a lethargic slumber. When not working enough the body will remain tense and have difficulty falling asleep.

Premenstrual syndrome

Magnesium relaxes contractions in the body. This causes pain relief for women’s pre-menstrual syndrome. Women suffering from severe pain during this period can take magnesium supplements regularly.

Chronic fatigue syndrome

Magnesium is one of the seven minerals essential to function our body. It is the most beneficial nutrient for the people who’s been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), as it can increase stamina and energy. Also, it has a benefit for the people who have CFS to get a night of better sleep. There are more benefits that you might get on taking magnesium, these are:

  • Decreases pain
  • Strengthen Muscles and Bones
  • Helps insomnia
  • Reduces oxidative stress
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Boost Immune System
  • Low-cost

Before taking magnesium, consult it first to your doctor. Take it with proper dosage.
